Motion training is in higher demand, and harder to find.

We can customize training needs for your staff.

  • COURSE DESCRIPTION

This training program will provide the student with the knowledge and skills to identify, install, configure and troubleshoot a closed loop motion control system in the Studio5000 architecture.  In addition, students will learn specific programming instructions used for motion control in Studio5000 ladder logic programs. Students will also learn how to interface Studio5000 systems with the Kinetix 5500/5700 Servo Drives, as well as an overview of the Kinetix series Servo Drives.

    COURSE OUTLINE

    • Overview of Motion Control Concepts

    • Hardware Description & Wiring Connections of Kinetix 5500/5700 Servo Drives

    • Configuring a Studio 5000 Logix Designer Project for Integrated Motion over an EtherNet/IP Network

    • Tuning and Testing an Axis

    • Motion Direct Commands

    • Programming Instructions to Turn on and Turn off Servo Control

    • Programming Instructions to Home and Stop Axes

    • Programming Group Motion Instructions

    • Basic Motion Instructions (MSO, MSF, MASD, MASR, MAFR, MAH, MAS, MAJ, MRP, MAG)

    • Advanced (Camming) Motion Instructions (MCCP, MAPC)

    PROGRAM SOFTWARE

Training utilizes Rockwell Software Studio 5000 Logix Designer, Microsoft Windows.

    PREREQUISITE

Students should have attended the Intermediate Level 2 course (or equivalent experience). It is strongly recommended that the student has also attended the Advanced Level 3 programming course (or equivalent experience).

    OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this class, the student will be able to apply their new Studio5000 Kinetix CIP motion servo control skills to program a variety of motion routines and motion instructions commonly used in integrated motion applications. Additionally, you will begin to troubleshoot and program dependent motion in the form of gearing and camming instructions.
